Declan sat down at the edge of the lake watching the ripples of a rock that he had just thrown into the water. Amazed by his boredom he took to lying down on the ground and gazing out at the sky. His thoughts wandered briefly but when he felt a presense of someone near him he sat up and looked around.

Ashli sat on a rock that perched a little ways out into the lake, the waves crashing against the smooth surface. Spray and mist washed into her face each time the water made contact with any of the edges of the rock, but she didn't mind in the least. Her chin rested on her knees, which were currently hugged to her chest. She tried to keep her mind off of homework, although it was a failed attempt.

(Sorry I split so quick I thought the boot scare had gone past.)
Declan looked out across to a girl sitting on a rock. He gave a small smile and stood up. His curiousity got the better of him and he took a closer look. That's Ashli, a Slytherin. That was his first thought and he frowned. He had seen her around and felt a little awkward when he saw her. Gwen said it was because he dispised Slytherin's but he knew that wasn't the case. Declan was fasinated with the girl on the rock. Forcing his nervousness down he whistled loudly to get her attention.

Lifting her head, Ashli narrowed her eyes for a second, trying to figure out if she was hearing things or not. She glanced over her shoulder, seeing a boy not that far away. 'So I'm not hearing things.' she thought, a wave of relief flooding through her. She got to her feet andd crossed her arms over her chest, looking at him with curious green eyes. "What d'you want?" she called, not mad but amused. Not many other people- besides Slytherins- ever wanted to get her attention. And from what she could make out, he was Declan from... 'Gryffindor?'

Declan looked at her in shock. One he wasn't sure if she was mad, or about to curse him for even speaking to her. Two, he hadn't thought much farther than getting her attention. Which meant, Declan could not think of anything to say. Damn, nice job idiot. Shaking his head he looked back at Ashli with interest. "Uh. I want to talk to you." He said simply. Get to know you would be better than just letting you witness how completly stupid I am.

Rolling her eyes, Ashli let out a sigh as a smile played at the corners of her lips. "I figured that much." she said, walking over so they wouldn't have to practically yell to hear eachother. She stopped a few feet in front of him, a curious look on her face. "Go on. What d'ya want to talk about?" she asked, arms still crossed over her chest.

Declan smiled as she came over to him. He made sure that he didn't trip as he took a step forward he tilted his head. "Erm, you seem to be very pretty." Declan froze eyes wide. "pretty focused out there. What'cha thinking about?" He asked. Nice cover up! Declan! Gwen is going to give you a badge. But Gwen might not give you one because of the fact she's a slytherin. Declan watched Ashli with a smile still happy he managed to cover up his mistake.

Ashli tilted her head slightly, not sure if she'd caught his mistake or just imagine it. "Nothing much. Just homework and wondering when out next trip to Hogsmede is." she answered. 'Kiera would probably be dragging me away by now... I don't see ewhy she doesn't like Gryffindors. Hell, I don't see why absolutely no one in Slytherin likes Gryffindors!' she silently fumed. What was bad was she could even picture Kiera dragging her off and then the entire speech she'd give about staying away from anyone related with Gryffindor house.

Declan thought back to see if a Hogsmeade trip had been mentioned recently. And he couldn't remember. "I'm not very sure when the trip is actually." Declan scratched the back of his head silently cheering the fact she hadn't caught his slip-up. "So you must have a bloke you're looking forward to seeing there." He stated more as a passing. Well there it's out there, heh might as well see if she has a bloke. Declan twitched his ears and frowned slightly. Probably some burly seventh year with a habit of knocking out Gryffindors for talking to her. Declan shook his head mentally and shoved his hands in his pockets.

Ashi frowned when he said he hadn't heard of any trips to Hogsmede. She laughed and shook her head when he made the comment of wanting to meet a bloke there. "You're sadly mistaken there. Kiera's the one who'd been trying to make me go out with someone, and that was about a month ago. I'm currently crush and boyfriend free." She shrugged, folding her hands behind her back and tilting her head back a little to look at the clear blue sky.

Declan laughed too, and followed her gaze up at the sky. "You're an odd one." He said with a grin. "Not many Slytherin's I know look up at the sky and laugh with Gryffindors instead of at them." Declan paused. "Unless you were laughing at me, then it would make sense." He added letting his grin slip into a mere smile. "Anyway why are you boyfriend free? None too appealing?" He grinned and looked across the lake so he wouldn't have to look at her and make another comment he'd have to fix.

Ashli sighed. "Yes, I'm an odd one. And no, I wasn't laughing at you." she reassured him, thinking about how to respond to his other question. After a seemingly long pause, she continued. "Well... none too appealing, those that are are jerks, and those that aren't jerks are taken. So either way it's a lose-lose situation." she said slowly, trying to make sure she used the right words.

That's a relief, she wasn't laughing at me. Declan thought looking back at her when she started talking about how all the boys are either jerks, or not jerks and they're taken anyway. Hmm, maybe I should stray from this topic. He thought with a smirk. "So Kiera, she's a bit edgy from what I've heard, I've never talked to her face to face. What's she like, you must be friends." Declan smiled and felt the breeze ruffle his hair.

"Yeah, we're friends. She's nice... a little pushy at times, but that's understandable. She has a habit of breaking rules, and as most Slytherins are, she loves taking a lot of oppertunities to make fun of Gryffindors." Ashli explained, shrugging. She looked towards the castle entrance, half expecting to see Keira stalking across the lawn to come and tear her back to the common room. She smiled when she saw no one else on the lawn and there was no high pitched, angry scream.

Declan nodded in understanding, that was sort of how Gwen was with him just him, around other people she didn't seem to talk much. Declan looked at the place he saw Ashli look and frowned. She wants to get away from me, damn, I can't keep her her that's not how I am. Declan smiled and tilted his head. "Alright, uh if you have someplace to be I can leave you alone. I understand, I mean I am a Gryffindor." He said a little crestfallen.
