((The homework assigned in the last D.A.D.A. thread is due (finally)!! XD))
Severus Snape stood at the front of the classroom, glowering at the door, waiting for the students to arrive. In another few minutes, he figured, they would all be late and he would have to take away more House points. Pity.
((I'll wait until at least a few people post here before considering anyone "late".... I would also like to note that in order for the homework to be considered "handed in", it has to be put into Professor Snape's hands by the student as he/she walks into class. I'm being picky. Just like Snape! Woo!))

Jay peered into the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, noticing that she was the first student there. Her violet eyes narrowed in annoyance, not liking the idea of being one of the only people there. She sighed, pulling her assignment out of her book and holding it out for Snape to take, and then grade, and then (knowing her luck) hand it back to her with an F on top.

"Well, that makes one student with a sense of timeliness." Professor Snape took the assignment from Jay, his expression still as stern as ever. "Hopefully, this time you have written something of... acceptable quality, Miss Wingson."

Jay nodded slightly, looking worridly at the ground in front of her feet as she went to take her seat. 'What's he mean by that!? I got good grades in his class before! Then again, that was in potions... His Defence Against the Dark Arts homework is so much harder!' she thought, setting her books on the table and opening to scan one of the pages. She only hoped that they were actually learning from the book today.

Ali walked into the room slowly and handed her homework to Snape. She took her seat with out even looking at him. Today was not the day, to be bother by him. She figured that she would probably get a T. For troll (tehe). She sat in the back and glared at Snape, just waiting, acually daring him to say something. She was in a wierd mood today, it was like she was asking for trouble.

Ali rolled her eyes and continued to glar at Snape.
Hermione walked in the room and handed her essay to Snape. She turned to Harry and said "really Harry, does it look like were late? I mean theres only two other people in here."Hemrione said, and cracked a smile "i hope you did your homework."and walked to her seat.

Snape did not look at the student, but he could feel Ali's eyes boring into him. "Is there a problem, Miss Lane? If not, then you should try focusing your attention on todays lesson." He then placed the assignments that were handed to him on his desk. "No, you are not late, Potter. But may I point out that had you and Miss Granger arrived five seconds later, you would have entered this room to find Gryffindor losing even more House points than it already has."
With a slight flick of his wand, the classroom door slammed shut. "Take your seats. If you have not handed in your homework assignment, do so now." Upon completion of this sentence, Snape's gaze lingered maliciously on Harry.

Jay let out a quiet sigh of relief, glad that today's lesson would be from the book. As long as Ravenclaw didn't lose any house points, she was happy. Heck, it'd be nice if they actually gained some house points for a change! She didn't flinch when the door slammed shut, because she'd already known he was going to do that. After five years, a few of Snape's tricks started to become predictable.

Ali rolled her eyes, she felt happy. She wasnt afraid of Snape, she just found him annoying. She didnt know why people were intimidated of him, who cares. Ali leaned back in her chair and stretched her arms. She pulled out her wand, with having the urge to make the door swing back open. no Ali, you'll just loose points... Ali thought to herself, but today was one of those reckless days. She got her wand and held it under her desk, and pointed it at the door. She said her silent incantation, and the door suddenly flung open. Ali slipped her wand back in her skirt pocket, and had to keep herself from laughing.

Snape gave a small, displeased snort and gave his wand another tiny flick, causing the door to, once again, slam shut. He took a few moments afterward to look around at the students. He rested his omniscient gaze on the first student and it seemed as though he was looking right through her. After just a second or two, he would switch to another student. He continued this until each of the students had been under his piercing stare. "That will be five points from Ravenclaw, Miss Lane," Snape stated before turning his attention back to the rest of the class.
"I have not asked you to take out your books," he snapped. "I wish to speak to you, and I want your fullest attention." He paused for a moment, his black eyes roving over the students' faces, lingering for a fraction of a second longer on Harry's than anyone else's. "You have had five teachers in this subject so far, I believe. Naturally, these teachers will all have had their own methods and priorities. Given this confusion, I am surprised that any of you actually scraped an O.W.L. in this subject. I shall be even more surprised if all of you manage to keep up with the N.E.W.T. work, which will be much more advanced."
Snape took a few steps so that he was now behind his desk and then turned around to face the class. "As you all very well know, the Dark Lord has returned and is at large, as are his loyal Death Eaters. And whose job is it to catch these dark wizards and witches, hmm?" He paused, waiting, half-heartedly for a response from one of the students.

Hermione raised her hand in the air and waved it rapidly.
Ali rolled her eyes and mumbled "No proof, hmph, I thought teachers were supposed to know things."she said, thinking after she mumbled and prayed no one hear that.

After closing her book with a sigh, Jay looked blankly at the closed book, not effected by Snape's glare anymore. Jay kept her hands under the desk, not wanting to answer the question. But, unfortunately, knowing Snape, he would call on someone who had their hand down. She narrowed her eyes, looking at the floor as she thought about what she'd learned from her previous teachers. She knew the answer was on the tip of her tongue, but unfortunately, it was a habit to have that one correct answer be replaced with another answer that was completely wrong for the subject.

"Detention, Miss Lane, Saturday night, my office. And another five points from Ravenclaw while we're at it. I do not take cheek from anyone."
"Now, where was I? Ah, yes. Dark wizard hunters. Anyone?" Snape looked around the room, deliberately ignoring Hermione's enthusiastic hand. His eyes soon came to rest on Jay.
"Miss Wingson?
